Privacy Policy
Chordhaus is built with privacy as a default. This policy explains what information the app does not collect, what stays on your device, and the few situations where data leaves the app. It applies to the Chordhaus iOS application and the chordhaus.app website.
Who we are
Chordhaus is developed and published by Sami Tamminen, an independent developer based in Finland. If you have any questions about this policy, write to hello@chordhaus.app.
What we don't collect
The Chordhaus app does not collect:
- Personal information (name, email, address, phone number)
- Location data
- Usage analytics, telemetry, or advertising identifiers
- Crash reports beyond what Apple provides automatically to developers through App Store Connect (these are aggregated and anonymised by Apple)
- Any data about which chords, presets, sounds, or jams you use
- Contacts, photos, microphone, or camera access
Because no personal data is collected, there is no personal data to retain, share, sell, or delete on our side.
What stays on your device
Everything you do in Chordhaus — your saved jams, chord overrides, ADSR settings, sound preferences — is stored locally on your device using standard iOS storage. None of it is uploaded to any server operated by us. If you back up your iPhone to iCloud, that backup is handled entirely by Apple under Apple's own privacy terms.
In-App Purchases
When you purchase the Pro Unlock, the transaction is handled entirely by Apple's StoreKit framework. Apple receives the payment information; Chordhaus only receives a confirmation that the purchase was completed, which is used to unlock the relevant feature on your device. We never see or store payment details.
Sound pack downloads
Piano is included with the app. The other sound packs (House Piano, Lo-Fi Rhodes, Dance Piano, Kalimba) are free and are downloaded from Apple's App Store servers the first time you select them, using Apple's On-Demand Resources. The download works like any App Store download and is handled entirely by iOS; no information is sent to us.
Sharing exported files
When you export a WAV or MIDI file, it is created on your device. If you choose to share it via the iOS share sheet, the destination (Messages, Mail, AirDrop, Files, a third-party app, etc.) handles delivery independently. Chordhaus does not transmit the file anywhere on its own.
Third parties
Chordhaus does not use any third-party analytics, advertising, tracking, or crash-reporting SDKs. The app communicates only with Apple's own services (StoreKit for In-App Purchases, On-Demand Resources for sound pack downloads, standard iOS system services) as required to function.
Your rights (GDPR, CCPA, and similar laws)
Even though we do not collect your personal data, you have the right under applicable privacy laws (including the EU General Data Protection Regulation and the California Consumer Privacy Act) to:
- Access any personal data a company holds about you
- Request its correction or deletion
- Object to or restrict its processing
- Lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority
Since we do not hold personal data about you, there is nothing for us to export or delete. If you believe this is incorrect in your case, contact hello@chordhaus.app and we will respond within 30 days.
Children's privacy
Chordhaus is rated 4+ and does not knowingly collect any information from children. The app functions identically for all users and does not include ads, in-app chat, or links to external sites that would be inappropriate for children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially, the "Effective" date at the top of this page will be updated and the change announced in the app's release notes. Minor clarifications may be made without a date change.
